they are absolutely amazing live. So good for them.A good album, not great, but good.
Most of the negative comments seem to be "it's not Drum'n'Bass enough".Well, maybe that's true. But I'm not a genre fanatic purist and God forbid that I ever should be.
Interesting how many comments here are from people who bought this on the strength of their first album. They've proved they have a lot more talent waiting to be mined. And I think for every disgruntled D'n'B purist they lose as a fan, they'll gain a dozen more "general music" fans with the right exposure.
Drum'n'Bass is fine as far as it goes, but it must get pretty boring playing variations on the same narrow style of music every day. So Pendulum have tried to expand their repertoire and I'm glad they have.
Should win them a lot of new fans. And of course. I defy anyone, no matter what their taste in music, not to be energized by them.
It's been the CD in my player 99% of the time since I bought it, I just let it loop. I just can't get enough, it's that good. Imho, it's a step up from Hold Your Colour, which itself was awesome.
You get candy.I found this band by accident.I downloaded their Colours album.I liked it.I downloaded this one.I liked it.
I don't usually listen to dance/electronica which is what I would say this is but its got more attitude than what I'd expect. I will definitely check out their first album (that others say its better is hard to believe).
I got it after hearing one of their songs used in a Formula 1 video and had to find out what it was. It turned out to be Propane Nightmares which is awesome.
I really like this album. My initial feelings were great, I only like one song (Propane) but give it time, its really great and worth a look.
The guys who put together the video did a great job matching it with the action onscreen, do check it out, I must have watched it a million times and I still hear the engines racing even when I listen to the CD, LOL.[.]. (play the BELGIUM vid)Much to my surprise, after listening to the CD for awhile, I ended up liking just about all of it.
I mostly listen to rock/alt myself, Radiohead and Muse are 2 of my favs. Plus being a child of the 80's, the sounds of synthesizers brings me back to the music of that decade along with memories of playing videogames (and yes I love that classic midi-style music).
Beautiful VISIONS overwhelm my imagination and keep my brain RUNNING to and from THE OTHER SIDE of Pendulum's musical prowess. Every song is just about the same length, and it seems unnecessary in some of them.Heres a somewhat cheesy breakdown. From the very beginning the album throws you into an intense SHOWDOWN between what Pendulum is known for and what they are evolving into.
At first I was upset that they seemed to have lost their true essence of D&B. After several weeks of listening this album gets consistently better.
The only real criticism I would have is that it feels like they tried to make some songs longer than they should have been. Yes, it is not like Hold Your Colour in the traditional D&B sense, but this album is truly original for its incredible hybridization of rock and D&B.
I cant stop myself from rocking out to this album when it plays.in fact I SHOULD BE, and JUST WAS writing an important paper due tomorrow but when this album came on my random playlist, I had to just stop and give this review. It truly sends you into a DIFERENT realm of musical excitement and gives you anything but NIGHTMARES.
The sheer MUTINY that they display in the face of unoriginality is enough to make me want to travel 9000 MILES to find another artist like them.*cough* i like GRANITE counter tops btw.anyways, this album is sure to cause quite a TEMPEST amongst the musical industry.
